EMAS - environmental statement

Umweltmanagement EMAS Award

EMAS organizations are required to provide the public with regular information on their environmental performance. This includes a description of the operation and, if applicable, the sites, the organization-specific environmental policy, the significant environmental impacts and the environmental program with the specific targets for improving operational environmental protection. The environmental performance data includes the core indicators of energy efficiency, water/wastewater, waste, material efficiency, biodiversity and emissions.

Here you can find the EMAS environmental statements of the HNE Eberswalde. The environmental statements of previous years can be viewed on the left under the heading "Documents" (the documents are only available in german language).

We are European champions for the 2nd time!

Every two years, the European Commission presents the EMAS Award to organizations with exemplary environmental management. After our university was already honored with this award in 2010, the 2017 award on the topic of "Resource Conservation and Circular Economy" in the category "Public Sector Organization" went once again to the HNEE.

Environmental management at the HNE

EMAS-LogoIn 2007, the Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences began to establish a structured environmental management system.

Concrete objectives, action plans and projects lead to the fact that the environmental management process is designed permanently and transparently and is subject to permanent further development.

Since December 2009 our university is validated according to EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme).
EMAS is an instrument developed by the EU to validate the environmental performance of an organization.

What are we dealing with?

Within the framework of environmental management, the HNE has set itself various goals. These include.

  • Economical use of resources,
  • Reduction of negative environmental impacts of the HNE,
  • Transparency in all environmentally relevant processes,
  • Efficient and ecologically oriented use of energy and materials,
  • Informing the public about environmental management at the HNE in order to serve as a role model,
  • Involvement of all university staff and students: practice-oriented teaching and research and regular surveys on environmental management topics.
