Charging station for electromobility

EU-Emblem

The HNE Eberswalde has installed a fast charging station with a total possible charging capacity of 100kW on the city campus between house 4 and 5 as part of the cooperation project "IntElekt BB - Intelligent Electromobility in Brandenburg", which is being carried out together with the BTU Cottbus and the University of Potsdam.

The project is supported by the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB) with funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the RENplus 2014-2020 funding program.

The pilot project's partners, the University of Potsdam and the BTU Cottbus, are also installing fast charging stations on their premises. The aim of this research project, which is based at BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, is to develop a technology to store excess electricity from renewable energies and make it usable for electromobility.

Electric vehicles, as controllable loads in the form of energy storage units, can provide the flexibility that grid operators need in view of the increasing expansion of renewable energies and the associated fluctuating power generation. In this way, CO2 emissions in the transport sector are to be reduced by increasing the share of renewable energies.
