Children and youth university
18th March 2021

The children and youth university took place online in 2021. The BRI conducted a webinar with the topic "The world of biosphere reserves".

Children in 5th and 6th grade learned about the importance and structure of biosphere reserves. They were able to deepen their knowledge in a quiz and then apply it themselves by zoning in the fantasy biosphere reserve "Eberswalde".

BIOM opening celebration 7th October 2020

The start of the new international master's study programme "Biosphere Reserves Management" in the winter semester 2020/2021 was celebrated with a multi-faceted event. At the beginning, guests competed to obtain a "mini-master" by completing a test based on the three competence pillars of the programme. Their management skills were tested using the example of the fantasy biosphere reserve "MittelschwĂ€rze".

The State Secretary of Brandenburg’s Ministry of Science, Research and Culture and representatives of several partner organisations addressed participants with welcoming words and appreciation for the new master's programme. Additionally, two insiders offered their perspectives regarding biosphere reserves and the challenges of managing them. Afterwards, several partnership agreements were signed with biosphere reserves that want to support the course. The new students were presented with a welcome gift and the event ended with food, drink and socialising.
