German as a Foreign Language

The Language Centre supports international students and applicants preparing to enter university with a range of German language courses at different levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Please feel free to contact us directly for detailed information and guidance. Detailed information for the pre-study German language course: see below.

Pre-Study German Language Course B2/C1

The course is aimed at international students, applicants preparing to study and exchange students who need B2 or C1 level German in order to be able to study on degree programmes in German at our university. For the B2 course, prior knowledge of German at the B1 level is required. The C1 course requires prior knowledge of German at the B2 level.

Exchange students who want to study at HNEE for a year have the option of gaining language competency to B2 level during the winter semester while at the same time taking 1-2 modules in the desired degree programme. In the following summer semester they only take modules in the degree programme.

The C1 course in the summer semester is intended for full-time students, applicants and exchange students with already existing language knowledge at B2 level. After this course, they may start their studies or exchange semester in one of our degree programmes in German from the winter semester.

Refugees interested in studying at HNEE are welcome!
