Distinctive Profile

The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is an important driving force for sustainable development, both nationally and internationally. This contemporary-style campus university, situated in an extensive area of natural landscape not far from the city of Berlin, has 2,300 students from 57 different countries, as well as more than 370 employees engaged in research, teaching and other roles. There are four faculties – Forest and Environment, Landscape Management and Nature Conservation, Wood Engineering and Sustainable Business – with currently 20 different study programmes, some unique across Germany, which enable students to acquire expertise in the fields of nature conservation, forestry, organic farming, climate change adaptation, sustainable business, timber construction and sustainable tourism management.

Close Ties

All of the degree programmes are dedicated to sustainable management. That includes incorporating the local region.Many seminars, projects and excursions are held in cooperation with renowned partners from the business world. That ensures that students receive insights into potential professions.The campus’ location in Eberswalde is also rooted in a successful network of science, business, administration and politics in the region.

Successful Research

In addition to the successful students and lecturers, the University of Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (FH) is known for its extremely successful research.As one of Germany’s strongest research universities, we work with numerous regional and international partners – a network we expanded for the long-term in recent years.

The extremely popular degree programmes, some of which are unique, attract students to Eberswalde from all over Germany and overseas.As a result, the numbers of applicants have risen continuously since the establishment in 1992.
