PhD zu "Developing Sustainable Food Forests - Key Features, Success Factors & Transdisciplinary Partnerships" an der Leuphana University Lüneburg und Arizona State University
The research started with a broad analysis of food forests as a sustainability solution in industrial food systems (database with 200 cases mostly in Europe and the US, 14 in-depth cases with interviews and site visits). In a second step, we initiated 2 real-world experiments to implement sustainable food forests with two urban farms. As a result, the Food Forest Cooperative developed in Phoenix, Arizona, US (www.instagram.com/ffc_phx/) and Waldgarten Hof an den Teichen developed in Lüneburg (www.waldgartenwelten.wordpress.com/waldgarten-hof-an-den-teichen/). We further analyzed the entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports or hinders the uptake of the Arizona case.

The PhD was part of the graduate school "Processes of Sustainability Transformation" with a transdisciplinary perspective on sustainability transformation in the food system.
