Vision

Tourism is one of the world’s most important and most dynamic industries. Tourism has the potential to initiate impulses for regional development, to generate income and to create new experiences for people. It can however also use resources, which may already be low, and damage the environment. It can also lead to cultural exploitation and social inequalities. The way in which tourism is planned, developed and managed has a huge influence on the amount of positive or negative effects that it may have on our environment (social, economical and ecological). We believe that it is our responsibility to promote sustainable tourism to secure a world which is worth living in and to give future generations a chance to continue development. Sustainable tourism includes, in our opinion, all types of tourism and tourism products which actively contribute to:

  • the conservation of an intact and diverse natural and cultural environment,
  • improving and maintaining the living standards of local people in the destinations,
  • encouraging and promoting an interest in learning, discovery and enjoyment and
  • long term economic success of tourism enterprises and destinations.

To be successful, tourism needs the right balance between economic, social-cultural and environmental needs and requirements. Our aim is to teach future tourism managers how to achieve this balance and how to implement the vision of sustainable development.
