HNEE is breaking new ground - our internal structural reform.

Proactive and forward-looking

We are the first university in Brandenburg to take this forward-looking and therefore important step. HNEE is completely reorganising its structure by reforming its internal structure - a decisive milestone in university development and unique in Brandenburg's higher education landscape. This structural reform is a strategic investment in our future and an impressive example of how change can be shaped - through courageous decisions, the involvement of all stakeholders and the firm goal of anchoring sustainable development at all levels.

New approaches to organisation and collaboration

At the centre of our reform is the introduction of a modern matrix structure, which is divided into schools and departments. This system is designed to promote interdisciplinary collaboration, create synergies between the various specialist areas and pool knowledge and expertise more efficiently. The departments take on a coordinating role, while the schools promote interdisciplinary teaching and research. The matrix structure will make us more flexible and agile so that we can respond to the dynamic challenges of our time. As a pioneer of sustainability transformation and against the backdrop of a constantly changing educational landscape, it is crucial to create structures that promote innovation and sustainable development. Through stronger networking of disciplines and flexible collaboration between different specialisms, HNEE will become an even stronger trailblazer for sustainable solutions that have an impact at both regional and global level.

Shaping the future together

A key success factor of this reform is the participatory approach, which involves all university status groups. Lecturers, staff and students are involved in the development process from the outset and can contribute their ideas and perspectives. This broad participation not only strengthened the acceptance of the new structures, but also promoted a sense of community that has an impact beyond the implementation of the reform. HNEE is thus demonstrating that it is not only a pioneer in shaping sustainable development, but also in developing modern structures.

With the internal structural process, HNEE is setting an example far beyond its university boundaries. We are positioning ourselves as a pioneer for university innovation in Brandenburg and serve as an example of how universities could be structured in the future in order to meet the growing demands of a sustainable society.
