Welcome to the HNEE Language Centre

Language skills are increasingly important requirements for employment and successful participation in the global community. The Language Centre’s main goal is to prepare students for education and employment within the context of global communication by offering high-quality language training.

In addition to students, HNEE staff, alumni and guests are also welcome to attend our language courses - please contact us to find out more about what we offer!

Our language courses

The Language Centre works closely with all faculties to offer both general and highly specialized language modules. All language modules are structured in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Our language modules are specifically designed to meet the objectives of the degree programmes and developments in social and professional life to ensure that students have the international communication skills they require for their future success.

Depending on the faculties’ needs and the requirements of the professional world, we design our courses with a focus on practical and communicative language training. In addition to curricular modules, it is also possible to take elective modules and courses that specifically promote intercultural skills or prepare students for the TOEIC language test, for example. Some modules are offered consecutively to ensure continuity and progress.

English as an entry requirement

Some degree programmes at the HNEE require proof of English language level.

If you have not submitted proof of your English level (e.g. in the form of a language certificate) by the time you start your course, in some degree programmes you can register provisionally, but must provide proof of your English level by the end of the first semester.

International students

German as a foreign language

The Language Centre offers German courses at various levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) for international students and prospective students.

German modules at levels A1 and B1 (winter semester) and A2 and B2 (summer semester) take place on Wednesdays.
