Research

At HNEE, our research focuses on current issues in the context of sustainable development. These are guided by the 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda, and further specified in the German Sustainable Development Strategy. As a university of applied sciences, our research is fundamentally application-oriented. We address theoretical, solution-driven, disciplinary, as well as inter- and transdisciplinary research questions. In doing so, we continue to strengthen our role as a pioneer in driving the transformation towards sustainability.

Our research strength lies in the close integration of diverse researchers within the university and real-world expertise from the field. This transdisciplinary approach leads to innovative solutions that address the complex challenges of our time.

Application-Oriented Research for Sustainable Development

We are strong in application-oriented inter- and transdisciplinary research in collaboration with politics, society, science, and business. We maintain a close exchange with practice partners to enable stakeholder-oriented, context-specific, and problem-driven research with a strong regional focus.
Research support measures are designed to further raise the visibility of application-oriented research at HNEE as a key contribution to sustainability science.
