Transfer and transfer strategy
As a university of applied sciences, we at HNEE pursue an application- and practice-oriented approach to teaching and research. This is reflected in a broad spectrum of transfer activities - from classic technology transfer to participation in social debates. Over the years, HNEE has increased its commitment to research and public relations work, further developed and continuously expanded its transfer structures.
Transfer understanding
We understand transfer as a voluntary, equal, partnership-based exchange of knowledge, ideas, technologies and experience. Such an exchange is primarily about dealing with practical problems. In this way, we open ourselves up to social concerns, whereby the topics are developed together with actors from the field.
Sustainability transfer
By sustainability transfer, we mean transfer activities that make or aim to make a contribution to sustainable development in society. Sustainability transfer is characterised by (explicit) sustainability goals for the respective transfer activity as well as a description of the desired sustainability impact. This is a speciality at our university.
The Research Centre [Sustainability - Transformation - Transfer]has published its own series of discussion papers on this topic.
Implementing sustainability transfer effectively
In 2020, the transfer strategy was developed and adopted as part of the university-wide strategy process 2019/20 as part of the University Development Plan (HEP) 2021-2025. In coordination with the HNEE strategies for teaching and research, it represents the third strategic pillar of HNEE activities and the university profile. It draws on the transfer strategy "Transfer of ideas and knowledge for sustainable development" from 2016 and previous experience with transfer and embeds it in a forward-looking framework for our university.
Strategic consulting and external expertise
As a result of the 2016 transfer audit Transfer Audit carried out by the Stifterverband für die deutsche Wissenschaft the Transfer Advisory Board was established as a strategic advisory body for transfer with high-ranking representatives from science, business and society. Since 2017, annual meetings have been held on various topics.
With the establishment of the joint project InNoWest of the three universities, the HNEE Transfer Advisory Board will be merged into a joint Transfer Advisory Board of the Potsdam University of Applied Sciences, Brandenburg University of Applied Sciences and HNEE in 2024.
