Representative of the HNEE
The HNEE representatives are responsible for dealing with the special concerns of university members. Their tasks include advising and supporting, developing proposals for optimising work processes and suggesting measures to the university management. In addition, they assume control functions within their area of responsibility.
Central Equal Opportunities Officer
The Equal Opportunities Officer (in accordance with § 76 BbgHG) advises and supports the university management and other university bodies and institutions in all matters relating to gender equality, in particular with regard to objectives, structural and personnel decisions, and the development and implementation of the equality concept. The Central Equal Opportunities Officer is a member of the State Conference of Equal Opportunities Officers (LaKoG).

The Anti-Discrimination Officer (pursuant to Section 77 of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act) raises awareness among university members on the subject of racism and supports the development of a more cosmopolitan approach among university members.

Data Protection Officer
The HNEE Data Protection Officer fulfils his duties in accordance with the Brandenburg Data Protection Act and has a comprehensive right to information vis-à-vis all data-processing bodies at the university.
In the event of a breach of the protection of personal data (so-called "data breach"), please notify us immediately. For IT-related incidents, please also send an email to Central IT at: itsz@hnee.de so that appropriate measures can be taken as quickly as possible.
Definition: According to Art. 4 No. 12 GDPR, a personal data breach is a breach of security leading to the destruction, loss, alteration or unauthorised disclosure of personal data.

Corruption Prevention Officer
The HNEE Corruption Prevention Officer acts as a contact person for employees, citizens and the university management in all matters relating to corruption prevention. The tasks are carried out in accordance with thestate government's directive on corruption prevention in the Brandenburg state administration of 7 June 2011.
Corruption damages the economy, hinders fair competition and undermines trust in public administration. A democratic state governed by the rule of law must take decisive action against corruption. In public administration in particular, it is essential to prevent corrupt behaviour at an early stage.
The legal basis for the prevention of corruption can be found in the aforementioned directive and in the Joint Administrative Regulation of the Prime Minister and the Ministries on the Prohibition of Accepting Rewards, Gifts and Benefits (VV VAnBGV).

Ombudspersons for good scientific practice
The ombudspersons are appointed in accordance with the regulations for ensuring good scientific practice and dealing with scientific misconduct. They serve as a central point of contact for questions relating to good scientific practice and for reporting suspected scientific misconduct.
The guidelines for ensuring good scientific practice at HNEE lay down the principles for ensuring good scientific practice and regulate the handling of scientific misconduct. They apply to all members and affiliates of HNEE who are involved in teaching and research, as well as those who support the scientific field through their work. The guidelines are based on the Code of Conduct for Good Scientific Practice of the German Research Foundation (DFG).
Alternatively, members and affiliates of HNEE can contact the supra-regional Ombudsman Committee for Scientific Integrity in Germany.

Representative of Severely Disabled Persons
The representative body for severely disabled persons is committed to the integration and representation of the interests of severely disabled persons in the workplace. It monitors compliance with the relevant legal provisions, requests preventive measures and supports those affected by providing advice and intervention in justified cases. The employer must inform and involve the representative body at an early stage in all relevant matters.

Representative for University Members with Disabilities and Illnesses
In accordance with the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (§ 78), the representative is involved in organising study conditions in line with the needs of students with disabilities. The activities of the representative for the interests of university members and their relatives with disabilities focus on the subject area of studying and students with disabilities and health impairments.
- Advising students and their relatives on accessibility options during their studies
- Support and advice on the implementation of disadvantage compensation
- Advising the university management and administration on the structurally barrier-free further development of study conditions
- Developing appropriate accommodations
- Participation in the network of representatives in the state of Brandenburg
- Participation in steering groups on digital and structural accessibility and student health management

The University for Sustainable Development has set itself the task of enabling barrier-free degree programmes at the infrastructural level, as well as needs-based study conditions and inclusive forms of communication.
Animal Welfare Officer
Institutions that conduct animal experiments on vertebrates are required to appoint an animal welfare officer.
The animal welfare officer at the University of Applied Sciences for Sustainable Development is responsible for
- advising researchers who plan or carry out animal experiments,
- ensuring animal welfare during husbandry and experiments, and
- monitoring compliance with animal welfare regulations
The animal welfare officer acts independently to ensure the welfare of animals as fellow creatures.
The core tasks in detail:
- Advice: supporting scientists in the planning and conduct of animal experiments and in species-appropriate husbandry and care
- Application procedure: Reviewing and assessing applications for approval of animal experiments. The animal welfare officer comments on each application for approval of an experimental project and submits this opinion to the competent authority upon request
- Monitoring: Checking compliance with regulations, requirements and approvals, including carrying out on-site inspections.
- Documentation: Assistance with the documentation of animal experiments and the recording of husbandry conditions.
