Brandenburg: Over 300 certified forest educators
On 6 November 2025, 21 newly trained forest educators received their certificates at the forest campus of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE), strengthening forest-related educational work in Brandenburg and beyond.
The presentation of the certificates was embedded in a two-day training programme on best practice examples for forest tours. The focus was on current educational topics such as "Professions in the forest" and "Tracking the beaver with ESD", which were presented in a practical way and with a view to education for sustainable development (ESD). Impressions from the examinations were also presented, as well as the diverse thematic focuses that the graduates had developed in their project work.
In a festive setting, a team of representativesfrom Brandenburg State Forestry - Hubertus Kraut, Angela Steinmeyer and Julia Grote - together with Prof Dr Katharina Messerer, the new chair of the examination committee for forest education certificates in the state of Brandenburg, presented the certificates to the participants. The newly certified forest educatorsreceived their awardsto great applause, including former HNEE students Lucas Lange (Forestry) and Ragna Schlößmann (IFEM).
This year's intake brings the total number of forest educators qualified in the state of Brandenburg since 2012 to 311. They are involved in research, education and practice and impart in-depth knowledge about forest ecosystems, sustainable use and nature conservation to people of all ages.
HNEE would like to congratulate all graduates and wishes them every success and enjoyment in their future educational work in the forest!
