Committees of the HNEE
The university’s committees advise the Senate on fundamental matters within their respective areas of responsibility and actively contribute to decision-making processes. They develop recommendations on topics such as research, teaching, budgetary matters, media and IT, and gender equality.
The committees are composed of representatives from all status groups within the university. The term of office of committee members corresponds to the term of office of the Senate.
Committee for Studies and Teaching
The Committee for Studies and Teaching advises the Senate on fundamental matters relating to teaching, study programmes and examinations, and actively contributes to the relevant decision-making processes. It develops recommendations on, among other things, curriculum reform, the coordination of study and examination regulations, the evaluation of teaching, planning for continuing education, and the maintenance of alumni relations.
The chair of the Committee is held by the Vice-President for Studies and Teaching.
The committee is composed of the following voting members:
- two representatives of the group of university lecturers from each school,
- one representative each from the groups of academic staff and technical and administrative staff,
- two representatives of the student body.
The term of office corresponds to that of the Senate. The Heads of the Undergraduate School and the Graduate School are members of the Committee in an advisory capacity, unless they have been appointed as voting members.

Central Committee for Research and Transfer (also serving as the Ethics Committee)
The Committee for Research and Transfer advises the Senate on fundamental matters relating to research, development and knowledge transfer, and actively contributes to decision-making processes. It develops recommendations on, among other things, research reporting, the promotion of early career researchers, cooperation with external partners, and the structure of the university’s own research and transfer units.
The chair of the Committee is held by the Vice-President for Research and Transfer.
The Commission is composed of the following voting members:
- four representatives of the group of university lecturers,
- one representative each of the groups of academic staff, students and technical and administrative staff.
Their term of office corresponds to that of the Senate.
Budget Committee
The Budget Committee advises the Senate on all fundamental matters relating to the structure and resourcing of the university and contributes to decision-making processes. It develops recommendations on staffing and financial resources, structural and development plans, criteria for the allocation of staffing and budgetary resources, and investment planning.
The Committee is chaired by the Chancellor.
The Committee is composed of the following voting members:
- four representatives of the group of university lecturers,
- one representative each of the groups of academic staff, technical and administrative staff, and students.
The Heads of Departments and Schools are members of the Committee in an advisory capacity, unless they have been appointed as voting members. The term of office corresponds to that of the Senate.
Equal Opportunities Committee
The Equal Opportunities Committee advises the Senate on fundamental matters of equality and equal opportunity at the University. It develops recommendations for promoting gender equality, work–life balance, and raising awareness of diversity and anti-discrimination.
The Committee is chaired by the central Equal Opportunities Officer, who may be represented and supported by the Deputy Equal Opportunities Officers.
The Commission consists of voting members from various status groups:
- two representatives of the university teaching staff,
- two representatives of academic staff,
- two representatives of the students, and
- two representatives of technical and administrative staff.
In addition, there are two representatives from the Senate and two representatives from the Presidium.
Members are appointed by their respective status groups in the Senate. The term of office corresponds to that of the Senate.
