New University Council begins its work
On 17 April, the new University Council of the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) met for the first time in Eberswalde. The focus of the inaugural meeting was an open and constructive discussion on the university’s strategic development.
Through the University Council, HNEE gains valuable external perspectives from academia, professional practice, politics and civil society. This diversity helps to provide a sound framework for understanding current developments, identifying blind spots and generating new impetus for further profile development. At the same time, the council acts as an important sounding board, supporting the university with expert feedback.
The University Council has an advisory role and supports HNEE in further refining its profile and aligning societal expectations with its own strategic goals. Members are appointed for a four-year term; the council meets two to three times a year.
The chair is held by Sabine Kunst, an experienced academic administrator who has been associated with the HNEE for some time.
For the HNEE, the University Council represents an important forum for feedback – and a great opportunity to advance the university’s development jointly and in dialogue with external experts.
