Science Meets the City: HNEE Launches New Public Lecture Series “Neue Köpfe. Neue Ideen. Hochschule ganz nah.”

With the new public lecture series “Neue Köpfe. Neue Ideen. Hochschule ganz nah.” (New Minds. New Ideas. University Up Close.), the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) invites audiences from 20 January 2026 onwards to explore the University’s research topics firsthand and engage directly with its researchers. The series is aimed at a wide audience—from local residents and students to professional partners and anyone interested in sustainability, societal change, and scientific questions—and presents academic perspectives in an accessible, dialogue-oriented format.

Under the guiding principle “Science begins with a question—and with the people who ask it,” HNEE’s new professors will present their research in an open, interactive, and practice-oriented manner. The series aims to strengthen the exchange between the University and the city community, highlight new perspectives, and spark discussions on key future challenges. Visitors are encouraged to listen, participate in discussions, and bring their own questions.

The lecture series will start with three events in the first quarter of 2026:

  • 20 January 2026 | Sparkassen Forum
    Prof. Dr. Britta Gossel
From Theory to Changemaker – Shaping Impact Entrepreneurship Education
  • 24 February 2026 | Paul Wunderlich House (plenary hall)
    Prof. Dr Georg Miribung
conomy and Environment in the EU: The Future of European Legal Transformation
  • 24 March 2026 | Bürgerbildungszentrum (Hall)
    Prof. Dr Eva-Maria Saliu
What Role Do Animals Play in Sustainable Agriculture?

All events begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is free and no registration is required. Interested participants are welcome to attend, listen, and join the discussions.

The lecture series is organised by the Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) together with the HNEE Support Association, the Eberswalder Hochschulgesellschaft e. V. (EHG). Cooperation partners include the City of Eberswalde and the Barnim District, supporting the series as a contribution to strengthening dialogue between the University, the local community, and the wider region.

With “Neue Köpfe. Neue Ideen. Hochschule ganz nah.”, HNEE positions itself once again as an open University for and within the region—a place where societal questions are considered and discussed together with the city community.
