Equal parenting in science

Date
Time 09:30 - 15:30 Uhr
Organisation Advisor for academic career development
Location HNEE forest campus, House 17
Language German

Equal parenting is often regarded as a matter of course within academia and among researchers. However, the data tell a different story. The balancing act between care work, paid employment, and the mental load associated with both family and professional life pushes parenting couples to their limits; there are no established role models and still few concrete recommendations for action. This workshop is aimed at parents working in academia, particularly doctoral candidates, postdocs, and professors, with the goal of raising awareness and thereby creating the foundation for equal parenting. To this end, we present concepts of equal parenting, make the distribution of care work within couples visible, and finally test practical negotiation tools.

Participation of both parents is expressly welcome. However, of course, only one parent may also participate.
