The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is one of the most popular universities in Germany and achieved an excellent position in the StudyCheck ranking 2026, placing among the top 10 universities nationwide. The ranking is based on student reviews on the university review portal StudyCheck, which focuses on student opinions.

"A truly great, committed university," "Sustainable degree programme, sustainable university," "Innovative economics and business studies with meaning and sustainability," "A family-like learning environment with a focus on sustainability" – these are just some of the current reviews for HNEE on the comparison portal.

With an average of 4.2 stars and a recommendation rate of 98%, this result confirms the students' confidence in the quality of the courses. A total of more than 390 reviews have been submitted so far, painting a nuanced picture of the courses and study conditions at the university.

Our students appreciate the personal learning atmosphere, the close exchange with the teaching staff and the opportunity to not only discuss sustainability in theory, but also to apply and shape it in practice. • Education – Sustainability – Transformation (M.A.) with 4.7 stars and a 100% recommendation rate – a part-time master's programme that is particularly praised for its design, practical relevance and organisation.
• Strategic Sustainability Management (M.A.) also with 4.7 stars and a 100% recommendation rate, which impresses students not only with its depth of content but also with its strong practical relevance.
• Sustainable Business Management (M.A.) with 4.4 stars and a 100% recommendation rate, in which students particularly highlight the combination of academic depth and a friendly learning atmosphere.
• Landscape Use and Nature Conservation (B.Sc.) with 4.3 stars and a high recommendation rate – particularly appreciated for its practical component and the diversity of its content.
• Sustainable Tourism Management (M.A.) with 4.3 stars and a 100% recommendation rate, which students rate as varied and practice-oriented.

About the StudyCheck Award

The StudyCheck Award is presented annually and honours universities that perform particularly well based on student evaluations. The evaluation takes into account, among other things, the average star rating, the recommendation rate and the number of reviews submitted. The ranking of the individual universities is determined by the so-called score value, which is calculated from the star rating and the recommendation rate of the students. The score value of the HNEE is 9.11 out of a maximum of 10 (details on results and methodology).
