ZooMap - Zoonose und kulturelle Evolution: Kartierung von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des Konsums und Handels mit Wildtieren in der Mongolei
Das Forschungsprojekt ZooMap - Zoonose und kulturelle Evolution: Kartierung von Vergangenheit, Gegenwart und Zukunft des Konsums und Handels mit Wildtieren in der Mongolei und auf den Philippinen untersucht, wie menschliche Interaktionen mit Wildtieren das Risiko von Zoonosen und Pandemien beeinflussen. Gefördert von der Volkswagenstiftung, arbeitet das Projektteam der Hochschule für nachhaltige Entwicklung Eberswalde (HNEE) mit Partner*innen aus der Mongolei und den Philippinen zusammen. Im Fokus stehen der Konsum des Tarbagan-Murmeltiers (Marmota sibirica) in der Mongolei und der Handel mit dem Philippinischen Schuppentier (Manis culionensis), beide gefährdete Arten und Wirte von Krankheitserregern. Das Projekt zielt darauf ab, kulturelle Praktiken zu kartieren und gemeinsam mit lokalen Gemeinschaften Strategien zur Eindämmung von Zoonosen zu entwickeln. Dabei kommen Methoden aus den Sozial- und Naturwissenschaften zum Einsatz, um umfassende und kulturell angepasste Präventionspläne zu erstellen.
