New HNEE Podcast explores Atlantic Biosphere Reserves
The new podcast "biosphera – The Podcast" has launched on HNEE Sounds. It opens with Episode 0, Setting Sail on a Great Journey, in which Prof. Katja Arzt and Martin Hess introduce the idea behind their project: spending a year exploring UNESCO Biosphere Reserves around the Atlantic aboard the sailing vessel biosphera.
The podcast offers insights into the world of UNESCO Biosphere Reserves and the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme. The first episode explores the planned route, preparations for life on board, expectations for the journey, and the questions and challenges surrounding this unique expedition.
The next episode is a narrative feature on the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of La Palma, narrated by NaRegio student Alena Neumann. It introduces listeners to the biosphere reserve and provides insights into the work of its management. At the heart of the episode is the permaculture initiative AUTarcaMatricultura, which demonstrates how sustainable agriculture, environmental awareness, and a renewed relationship between people and nature can be put into practice.
