The BRI hosted a delegation from the China Land Surveying and Planning Institute, sponsored by the Hans Seidel Foundation, to exchange on climate-resilient spatial planning. The delegation included representatives from the institute's leadership, data centre and land-use research departments, reflecting a shared interest in sustainable land management, spatial planning and environmental governance. They expressed particular interest in approaches that align with national environmental protection strategies and the principles of the MAB Hangzhou Strategic Action Plan.

During the visit, Prof. Jan-Peter Mund, presented BRI's mission and current research activities, including empirical studies on the spatial analysis of land surface temperature. Dr. Gino Garcia, Coordinator of the International Master's Programme Biosphere Reserves Management (BIOM), introduced the BIOM programme and discussed its contribution to capacity building in protected area management.

The exchange also explored opportunities for future international collaboration, particularly in the application of spatial monitoring methods in biosphere reserves and the integration of Indigenous Peoples' and rural communities' rights into spatial planning within protected areas.
