Multifunctional Landscapes in Brandenburg: The Research of Niklas Brachmann

We are excited to welcome Niklas Brachmann as doctoral researcher at Planetary Health Landscape

With a scientific background in Global Change Geography, Niklas worked on research projects at Humboldt University Berlin and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research and collected practical experience in heathlands in Brandenburg. With his interdisciplinary understanding of land-use systems, he joined the Planetary Health Landscape Institute under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stefan Julich to model restoration strategies that integrate food production and ecological functioning. His research aims to develop pathways towards future multifunctional landscapes in Brandenburg and beyond.

Through his doctoral project, Niklas is contributing to define the research profile of PHL-I and is a member of the doctoral college of Brandenburg’s universities of applied sciences. The post is funded by the Brandenburg Ministry of Science, Research and Culture as part of the doctoral programme.
