In the face of the climate crisis, social inequality and technological disruption, new approaches to learning are required. The FUTURA project combines futures thinking with artistic research and embodied practice, thereby expanding interdisciplinary teaching. Through this approach, students learn to engage productively with uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity and equivocality – key capabilities for changemakers. In the long term, FUTURA seeks to generate societal impact by enabling students to act as transformative agents for sustainable and equitable futures. To support this aim, knowledge transfer to teaching staff from other disciplines across the wider higher education sector is planned.

The aim is to enable students not only to analyse alternative futures, but also to experience them physically, reflect on them critically, and actively shape them themselves.
