With the participation of HNEE, twelve universities from the Polish-German border region have launched a new cross-border university network. Under the name "Pomeranian Universities Alliance", academic cooperation is to be intensified and a contribution made to sustainable social, economic and regional development in the Pomeranian region. This includes West Pomerania (Poland), Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and Brandenburg.

The university management of the participating institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Greifswald. The aim is to pool academic expertise, promote intercultural exchange and improve networking between local and regional stakeholders.
The first joint activities were already realised before the network was founded. In cooperation with the UNESCO Chair for Social Sustainability at the University of Szczecin, three workshops on social sustainability topics were held in 2024 and 2025. They form the prelude to further cooperation within the new alliance.

The following organisations are involved in the network: Academy of Art in Szczecin, hmt Rostock, Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development, Neubrandenburg University of Applied Sciences, Stralsund University of Applied Sciences, Koszaliń University of Technology, Maritime University in Szczecin, Pomeranian Medical University, Szczecin, University of Greifswald, University of Rostock, University of Szczecin, West Pomeranian University of Technology, Szczecin.
