FutureSEE Playbook: Integrating social entrepreneurship into teaching

The Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE) is a co-initiator of a nationwide network that highlights experiences, methods and practical examples relating to the teaching of social entrepreneurship. The FutureSEE Playbook supports lecturers in embedding social entrepreneurship within various academic and subject contexts – with a view to impact-oriented higher education.

The FutureSEE Playbook is a comprehensive collection of resources on social entrepreneurship education in German-speaking countries. It was developed collaboratively and participatively by and within a community of university lecturers who wish to embed social entrepreneurial thinking and practice more firmly in their teaching and study programmes. FutureSEE represents a nationwide network of university lecturers dedicated to further developing social entrepreneurship education, highlighting tried-and-tested teaching practices and strengthening collaboration amongst lecturers.

The Playbook documents the findings and experiences of a nationwide network in the field of social entrepreneurship education, funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education (StIL). The aim is to highlight innovative teaching and learning approaches, strengthen collaboration between stakeholders and provide impetus for impact-oriented higher education.

The publication brings together more than 45 use cases, profiles of over 50 lecturers, a wide range of teaching methods and tried-and-tested practical formats. A ‘learning journey’ with nine stages serves as a structuring element – ranging from raising awareness, through skills development and idea generation, to business model development, impact orientation and scaling.

The FutureSEE Playbook thus serves as a source of inspiration, a practice-oriented reference work and a networking tool. It supports lecturers in embedding social entrepreneurship within various disciplinary contexts – and in empowering students to tackle societal challenges using social entrepreneurial approaches.

The project is continuing as FutureSEE Evolution and is funded by the Foundation for Innovation in Higher Education.
