Bodensensorbasiert optimiertes Düngungsmanagement als interoperable landwirtschaftliche Dienstleistung "BoDi"
On January 1, 2025, the follow-up project BoDi—Soil-Sensor-Based Optimized Fertilization Management as an Interoperable Agricultural Service—will launch; it is funded with 3.89 million euros over four years. Building on the results of the TONIA project, BoDi aims to support Brandenburg’s agricultural sector in addressing heterogeneous site conditions and climatic challenges through innovative approaches in precision farming.
The project will develop a software package for determining fertilizer requirements that integrates remote sensing and weather data as well as soil moisture data. Other key areas include precise humus determination and assessment, the functional expansion of a sensor prototype for texture mapping, and the development of an optimized workflow for soil samples. In addition, a cloud-based IT environment ensures interoperability with farm management systems and a new data processing app. These developments are intended to reduce nutrient losses, lower operating costs, and simultaneously increase yields.
As a research assistant, I am responsible for research and development (R&D), knowledge transfer, and project management and coordination within the project. My tasks include contributing to the development of innovative solutions, organizing workshops, coordinating between partner institutions, and supporting the practical implementation of the developed technologies.
Teilflächendifferenziert-optimiertes Nährstoffmanagement im Ackerbau (TONIA)
The TONIA project aimed to optimize nutrient management in agriculture through the use of high-resolution fertilizer requirement maps. Methods were developed to stabilize yields, reduce operating costs, and minimize environmental impact. This innovative project was successfully completed and laid the foundation for future research and development efforts.
As project coordinator, I managed the team and project activities, supported the research team in conducting research, drafted interim reports, carried out fieldwork, oversaw finances and administration, and served as a liaison between funders and partners.
The TONIA team successfully participated in the first call for proposals of the European Innovation Partnership for Productivity and Sustainability in Agriculture (“EIP-AGRI”): On January 1, 2025, the follow-up project BoDi—soil sensor-based optimized fertilization management as an interoperable agricultural service—will launch.
