Presentation from Dr. Parmveer Singh explores transdisciplinary education

On 15 July 2026, the BRI welcomed Dr. Parmveer Singh from the University of Saskatchewan for a research presentation. Moderated by Prof. Erik Aschenbrand, the session brought together BRI colleagues to discuss current research on mentorship in sustainability education.

In his presentation, "What We Learned About Mentorship in Sustainability Education: Insights from Mentors of Transdisciplinary International Learning Labs", Dr. Singh shared findings from his postdoctoral research within the Transdisciplinary Education Collaboration for Transformative Sustainability (TRANSECTS) project. The presentation was followed by an engaging discussion with participants.

Dr. Singh is currently spending nine weeks as a visiting researcher at the BRI. During his stay, he is exploring Biosphere Reserve practitioners' experiences with transdisciplinary education and collaboration, contributing to the further development of the TRANSECTS project and future transdisciplinary initiatives.

Dr. Singh's research focuses on transdisciplinary research, programme evaluation and community-based participatory research. His visit, funded through the Mitacs Globalink Research Award, strengthens the long-standing collaboration between the University of Saskatchewan and the HNEE/BRI, and promotes international exchange in sustainability research and education
