Local Bioeconomy Scenarios in Central and South Asia

The early-career research group investigates the socio-ecological impacts and interdependencies of agrarian transformation in Central and South Asia. Drawing on an in-depth understanding of developments to date, we critically examine potential pathways towards a bioeconomy in the agricultural sector in the research region. As part of our TRANSECT project – Agrarian Transformations and Socio-Ecological Complexities. Local Bioeconomy Scenarios in Central and South Asia – we ask: What social and ecological consequences can be expected from further intensification of agricultural production? Which technologies benefit whom? What are locally adapted pathways towards more sustainable production systems?
