The AI Sustainability Laboratory (KIN’L) is dedicated to the application and use of artificial intelligence methods at the university, as well as beyond, through collaborations with other research institutions, companies and civil society. The focus is on machine learning as a sub-field of artificial intelligence. The aim is for computers to learn to recognise (complex) patterns and relationships. To this end, models are trained by experts, usually using large datasets. Through the AI Sustainability Lab, we aim to support people at the university and beyond in applying machine learning – or artificial intelligence more generally – to their research questions. We do not wish to leave this potential untapped when it comes to developing and establishing more sustainable solutions. In addition to research and knowledge transfer to industry and society, the computing and storage resources and expertise of the KIN’L can also be utilised in teaching.

Since the project’s completion, the AI Sustainability Lab has continued its work at the Centre for Data Science.
