Innovative, Interdisciplinary Raised Hunting Stand Construction

As part of the project, students from different universities and disciplines will come together to rethink, plan and ultimately construct the principle, object and product of a raised hunting stand ("Hochsitz") in an interdisciplinary setting. Working in mixed teams and under guidance, students will learn through collaborative exchange and from one another as they work on a shared project—the raised hunting stand. The aim is for up to four raised hunting stands to be constructed, exhibited and/or put into use at the end of the project.

The disciplines involved will include, in particular, Forestry, Wood Technology, Design and Architecture. Working collaboratively and across disciplines, students will develop the project from initial designs, sketches and models through to technical drawings and construction plans, before producing a prototype and ultimately realising it at full scale. In addition to building a cross-disciplinary and cross-university network and acquiring interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, students will gain a more holistic understanding of their future professional roles and, in particular, of the needs and operational conditions of the stakeholders involved in the preceding and subsequent stages of the process.

This will help to break down barriers and improve processes, with the aim of making the best possible use of wood as a raw material while responding to the needs of users.
