The “LEAD³ – LEARN. EMPOWER. ADVANCE. DEVELOP.” project is a nationwide gender equality initiative that specifically promotes women’s careers in the tourism industry. The University for Sustainable Development Eberswalde (HNEE) is working with twelve tourism companies and organisations, as well as the industry associations BTW and DRV, to deliver the project.

At its core is the combination of individual career development and structural change. In each of the twelve partner organisations, three women* representing three stages of their careers – Rising Talent, Established Professional and Silver Ager – and one key person from the HR or leadership team are supported by professional coaches. Over the three-year project period, seven coaching rounds, including deep-work phases and synergy sessions, are planned to bring together individual development and organisational change.

The project operates across four levels:

• Female Empowerment – strengthening and supporting the careers of women* in the tourism industry through professional one-to-one coaching
• Competence Development – targeted development of the skills and capabilities of key individuals within the partner organisations
• Organisational Development – structural change within the partner organisations towards more gender-equitable working and leadership structures
• Gender Equality Lab – an industry-wide workshop format to raise awareness of equal opportunities
