Analysis of the Actual Effort Involved in Establishing Agroforestry Systems and Development of Suitable Start-Up Strategies and Business Models for Farmers

The aim of the project is to develop implementation and maintenance strategies for agroforestry systems (AFS) to enable farmers to get started easily. To this end, the benefits, as well as the actual costs, effort and risks, are being systematically assessed. A study analyses the socio-economic effort involved in implementing existing demonstration projects and their success in order to derive specific, low-risk recommendations. On this basis, viable AFS models for sustainable agriculture, as well as suitable teaching modules and business models, are to be developed.
