Prospective students in particular will find numerous opportunities to get to know the university in person: for example at digital information events, student campus tours of the city and forest campus or the University Information Day in June. There will be a varied programme of course presentations, lectures on all aspects of studying, campus tours and information stands, and you can also get to know the city of Eberswalde at the city festival.

Students rate HNEE as one of the best smaller universities in Germany. Ranked 10th among the most popular universities with fewer than 5,000 students, they secured the "StudyCheck Award 2026" for HNEE. The ranking is based on an evaluation by the comparison portal "StudyCheck" and thus on the ratings of the students themselves. The result reflects the personal learning atmosphere, the close exchange between students and lecturers, and the interdisciplinary orientation of the degree programmes at HNEE. At the same time, it underlines the importance of the nature-oriented campus in Eberswalde and confirms the university's claim to combine science, sustainability and social responsibility.
Studying for the future – with a practical focus, a positive attitude and social relevance
As one of the first universities in Germany, HNEE established sustainability as an overarching guiding principle in its teaching, research, knowledge transfer and university operations more than 15 years ago, thereby providing a significant impetus for social transformation.
The range of degree programmes comprises 23 Bachelor’s and Master’s programmes in fields such as nature conservation, forestry, organic farming and food systems, sustainable economics, wood engineering and sustainable tourism management. Small groups, practical teaching methods and close collaboration with partners from industry and society provide the ideal conditions for successful completion of studies and entry into the workforce.

Campus tours
To familiarise prospective students (and accompanying persons) with the campus, we offer guided tours of the city and forest campuses of HNE Eberswalde. The tour can also be organised in English.
Would you like to get to know our university on site? Our → University Information Day takes place every year in June. On this day, HNE Eberswalde opens its doors to all interested parties. Here you can find out about all our degree programmes and interesting facts about studying, take a tour of the city and forest campus, get to know HNEE student initiatives and projects and talk to lecturers, students and alumni of our university.
