The Öko-Blog Kartoffel pilot project aims to expand the oekolandbau.de website with a multimedia “field diary” on organic potato cultivation and to present sound agronomic knowledge in a practical and accessible way. Through a combination of podcasts, video contributions, interviews and other media formats, the entire value chain of organic potato production will be covered and made accessible to an agricultural audience.
The focus is on the cultivation of potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) as an economically important crop in organic farming. From the selection of varieties and sites through crop management, plant protection, harvesting and storage to marketing, all stages are documented throughout the year and considered from both agronomic and economic perspectives. This is complemented by a cost-benefit analysis based on selected farms along the value chain.
