Effects of Ecosystem Restoration on Social Cohesion in Western Rwanda

The project investigates the effects of ecosystem restoration on social cohesion, including which specific aspects of restoration activities facilitate, hinder or otherwise influence social cohesion.

The project is part of the DFG Research Group RESTORE: A Socio-Ecological Systems Approach to Ecosystem Restoration in Rural Regions of Africa (FOR 5501).

The research group investigates ecosystem restoration in western Rwanda, a global leader in the field of ecosystem restoration. Six sub-projects address different ecological, social and socio-ecological questions. A seventh sub-project focuses on implementing a living lab in which socio-ecological experiments are conducted to identify new approaches to ecosystem restoration.
