The overarching goal of the project AgroWert-Regio – Participatory Value Chains with Agroforestry Products for Climate-Resilient Land Use is to develop and test a socially supported assessment and marketing concept for agroforestry products from the Lusatia region. This concept aims to recognise and reward the environmental services provided by agroforestry systems—particularly their contribution to climate protection—while also fostering long-term cooperation among stakeholders across the entire agroforestry value chain. By piloting this participatory approach, which builds on previous results and successes in establishing agroforestry in Lusatia, the project supports the development of a regional demonstration network based on agroforestry circular economy principles. This network enhances awareness of the positive effects of agroforestry systems among regional actors—from producers to consumers—through knowledge exchange and collaboration, thereby promoting agroforestry as a sustainable land use practice in the region.

Project results
One of the first outcomes of the AgroWert-Regio project is a → stakeholder mapping in the Lusatia region. To date, 15 farms practising agroforestry have been identified in Lusatia and its surroundings. In addition, a wide range of cooperative marketing channels—with varying levels of consumer involvement—has been documented (as of September 2024).
Another key result is the → operational performance assessment for the project partner Hof Domin, carried out by Regionalwert Research GmbH. The analysis calculated a sustainability contribution of approximately €67,000 from Hof Domin’s agroforestry systems.
