The project Competence Network for Organic Arable and Crop Production in North-East Brandenburg – Cropping School established a regional advisory and knowledge-exchange format for organic farms.
The aim was to establish a long-term, self-sustaining network that strengthens professional and social exchange between practitioners and researchers and jointly develops solutions to current challenges in organic arable farming. The concept was based on the “Stable Schools” approach and involved regular farm network meetings. These were supported by technical preparation and follow-up, with farm data analysed and specific measures or practical trials developed as a result.
Key topics included alfalfa and clover-grass cultivation, catch-crop cultivation under changing climatic conditions, and suitable technology for direct drilling and mulch seeding. Through close collaboration with the Uckermark Organic Arable Farming Association and various research institutions, the project aimed to strengthen knowledge transfer, stimulate innovation processes and further develop organic farming as a viable model for regional agriculture.
