The overarching aim of ökoZuG-BB is to develop and implement an innovative, sustainable and resilient vegetable production system in Brandenburg that addresses the region’s specific climatic challenges and the anticipated impacts of climate change. Taking a holistic approach, the project seeks to establish efficient and resilient production methods that will not only strengthen and expand organic vegetable production in Brandenburg, but also serve as a pioneering model for other regions of Germany.

The research collaboration between the Leibniz Institute of Vegetable and Ornamental Crops (IGZ) and Eberswalde University for Sustainable Development (HNEE), together with the active involvement of farmers and other relevant stakeholders, contributes not only to addressing the challenges of organic vegetable production, but also to laying the foundations for sustainable, organic and locally rooted agricultural systems while strengthening the regional economy.
